Many traditional star-within-a-star designs require Y-seams: three-way intersections where seams meet at a point, requiring you to stop, pivot and restart with the needle down. Y-seams are manageable with practice, but they’re a barrier for many quilters.

The GO! Double Star die eliminates Y-seams entirely. Every seam in this block is a standard straight seam. The die achieves the complex geometry through the precision of its unique shapes, including specialized dog ears and notches that align your pieces before you even pick up a pin. The GO! Double Star die cuts a 3-color block, but changing which fabrics go where completely transforms the finished design. The same die and the same shapes produce dramatically different results depending on your color placement decisions.

A light background with two contrasting colors produces the classic star-within-a-star effect. Reversing the value of the inner and outer stars shifts the whole visual weight of the block.
