Unlike rolling-finish hardware, which is processed in batches, hanging-finish hardware is individually dipped and finished, creating a more refined look and feel. This labor-intensive process helps deliver the quality and craftsmanship you expect for your handmade bags.
With proper care, your Sallie Tomato hardware can maintain its beautiful finish and luster for years to come.
Hardware Care & Maintenance
Keep your Sallie Tomato hardware looking beautiful with regular care. Every 3–6 months, apply a small amount of Carnauba Wax with a soft microfiber cloth to help maintain shine, protect against water, and preserve the finish.
For darker hardware finishes, black wax or oil can help enhance the color. Avoid using these products on lighter metals, as they may cause discoloration.
For best results:
- Clean hardware before applying wax.
- Apply a small amount of Carnauba Wax with a soft microfiber cloth.
- Allow the wax to sit for a few minutes, then gently buff.
- Keep wax away from leather and other materials that may stain.
- Avoid polishing compounds, abrasive waxes, nail polish, and other harsh products that may damage the plating.
- For deep scratches, a small amount of acrylic paint can be used to touch up the area before waxing.
- Do not wash the finished bag directly with water.
