Underwater Stars and Mermaids Quilt Tutorial with the GO QUBE

Hi it's Bea again from beaquilter! I'm here to show you how to make this cute baby quilt called Underwater Stars (and Mermaids).

It's actually the first pattern I ever wrote and listed for sale. I was recently able to play in EQ with some new fabrics from Timeless Treasures called ABC Under the Sea. After I sent them a sketch, they liked it and sent me fabrics to make it!! Awesome :) Be sure to check your nearest quilt shop or  an AccuQuilt Signature Dealer for the fabrics.

Then I realized that all the blocks were 8" and I HAVE that GO! QUBE set and could easily turn it into a tutorial for you!

Finished quilt size is 44 1/2" x 44 1/2" (My pattern has different sizes, this one is the smallest)

You'll need the 8" GO QUBE set and I also used the 2 1/2" strip die for the border and the binding.

Here's the fabrics needed

Focus 1/2yd

Fabric B 3/4yd

Fabric C 1yd

Fabric D 1/4yd

Fabric E 1/2yd

Fabric F 1/2yd

(I used an extra fabric for the center of the star blocks instead of using the main fabric, about 1/4yd)

From fabric G I cut out 13 of shape #6

Then I cut out 68 of orange and grey with shape #5, also 105  in pink and 52 in white

Then I used shape #4 and cut out 52 QST in grey

I also used shape #1 and #2 and #8 to cut out the rest, plus the 2 1/2" strip to cut the border sections.

Here's a picture of all the pieces ready to sew together!

When I sit down to sew, I try to sew as much together as possible in one sitting before getting up to iron.

Just Add Fabric™ Using the GO QUBE
