Welcome to the Die Family: GO! Kitten, GO! Wedding Medley & GO! Sewing Machine

Get ready to welcome back a trio of fan-favorite dies from our GO! Die to Try Program!

Today we’re “sew” excited to welcome a trio of great applique dies into our regular die family – the GO! Kitten, GO! Wedding Medley and GO! Sewing Machine. All 3 are coming back from being part of our GO! Die to Try Program and bringing with them some brand new patterns and fresh inspiration.

GO! applique dies are designed for fusible applique methods, which means you should press a paper-backed fusible product onto the back side of your fabric before cutting it on your dies. The fusible will “count”  as ½ of a layer, so you can cut up to 4 layers of fused fabric at a time on GO! dies. Because the fabric has fusible on it, lengthwise grain is not a factor here, and you can lay your fabric on the die in any direction that you would like. For dies with directional shapes, like the GO! Sewing Machine, you can change the orientation of the shape by cutting it with the fabric either right-side-up or right-side-down.

To add GO! applique shapes to a project, you will peel off the paper backing, put them in place on your project and press them down, following the directions for your fusible. Then, you are free to secure the edges with a decorative stitch, a straight stitch just inside the outer edge or by quilting over the top.

If you’re lucky enough to have an embroidery machine, you have even more finishing options available! AccuQuilt provides free, downloadable outline embroidery for almost all their shapes in your choice of a blanket, satin or motif stitch. If you’re looking for something a bit more detailed, there are dozens (and dozens) of creative designs available for purchase and download on the website as well. When working with these designs, you’ll hold off on fusing them onto your project until you start the embroidery process. The embroidery design will lay down your placement stitches. AccuQuilt offers a variety of fusible products and stabilizers for embroidery on the website.

But don’t think that the fun stops there, because GO! dies will cut a wide variety of materials like felt, craft foam, wool, leather, card stock and vinyl. If you can cut it with scissors, your GO! dies can cut it as well – and even better!

Quilters and crafters alike thought that the GO! Kitten was simply purr-fect! This little cutie sold out quickly, and we’ve seen it used in so many fun and creative ways.  The die includes 5 shapes to build a whole litter of perfect little cuties in no time. Can you imagine trying to cut all the tiny little noses by hand? Ugh!

GO! Sewing Machine

Quilters cheered when we introduced the iconic GO! Sewing Machine as a Die to Try, and I couldn’t agree more. This die is full of possibilities for any quilter or sewist around. I would never have the patience to cut many of these by hand, but the die will let you cut several at a time and the possibilities are endless.

Think about adding these to projects for your sewing area, like a cover for your sewing machine. Add it to clothing items like t-shirts for you and your quilty friends – or maybe on a jean jacket! You could add a row of sewing machines to drapes or a valance, or even use it to cut a stencil to go around your room or create a painted canvas rug! How about gift bags for guild events and retreats? Maybe mug rugs? I have “sew” many ideas!
